A bathroom remodeling project is certainly a worthwhile investment, as it provides the second largest return right behind a kitchen renovation. Indeed, bathroom remodels and additions enjoyed an 11.1 percent gain this year, proving that homeowners are still willing to spend a lot to make their “private business” more comfortable. According to News4Jax, replacing the bathtub with a shower stall seems to be gaining traction among homeowners. This trend has not escaped the attention of famed business review site Angie’s List:

Swapping Tub

Removing the bathroom tub and adding a walk-in shower caters to homeowners of all ages. Those wanting to age in place choose them for functionality and accessibility, while other homeowners favor the sleek, modern design and extra space.

Showers can give homeowners more space and because they’re more convenient and safer than a deep tub – showers are a great idea for people who plan to grow old in their homes.

That said, bathroom remodels need to be carefully planned considering the limited amount of space available. In addition, Angie’s List says that while bathtubs are kid-friendly, they also take up a lot of space. In any case, homeowners would do well to work with a reliable contractor like DAL Builders that has a solid track record when it comes to bathroom remodeling in Chicago and can be counted on to carry out any renovation project with utmost efficiency.

For instance, bathroom renovations need to prioritize privacy as much as possible. Regardless if the owner wishes to replace the tub with a shower or not, the contractor must ensure that the bathing area receives sufficient cover. The toilet also deserves the same treatment, which means that it needs to be positioned well away from the door. Alternatively, a separate toilet room can be built to provide more privacy.

Reputable Chicago bathroom remodeling contractors also need to consider plumbing in terms of the aesthetic aspects. Water pipes need to be hidden in order to create a contemporary design, although they can also be left exposed for a more industrial or vintage look. Electrical systems, on the other hand, are a different story altogether as they need to be hidden from view and protected from moisture.

As it turns out, even a simple bathtub replacement can involve a lot of things that homeowners may be otherwise unaware of. It all boils down to hiring the pros for any bathroom renovation project so that these issues can be straightened out.
